Learn to Brew Kombucha at Home by Growing a Starter SCOBY

Learn to make kombucha at home using the provided list of supplies you will need to gather before the event. Kombucha is a delicious, fun, healthful, sparkling drink. Unfortunately, many commercial brands are no longer traditionally fermented or have sugar or other ingredients added. Making it at home saves you money and allows you to control the health aspects and the flavour. Join renowned fermentation author Kirsten K. Shockey in this online course, where we will demystify kombucha and learn how to make your own by creating your starter liquid and SCOBY in your home. This experience combined with class instruction will get you on your way.

Supply list:

  • Unpasteurized raw kombucha (1 bottle/can) – Found in Winnipeg: Wolseley Kombucha or Prism Kombucha
  • Quart/litre jar (1)
  • Black tea (2 bags)
  • Boiling water
  • Sugar
  • Rubberband
  • Round coffee filter or a tight weave cloth to cover the jar
