Well Wishes: Labour Day Long Weekend

Happy Labour Day from AESES!

We hope you have an opportunity to enjoy the upcoming long weekend. We have lots of reasons to celebrate, including the many accomplishments of Canada’s labour movement over the years. The first Monday in September is set aside as a day to recognize workers’ rights and organized labour. Despite the gains in workers’ rights, including the right to a safe and healthy workplace, we still have room to improve.

The Confederation of Canadian Unions (CCU) produced a postcard, which summarizes the history of the Trade Unions Act of 1872 and the official recognition of Labour Day as a national holiday in Canada in 1894.

We hope you have a wonderful day celebrating and relaxing in advance of the busy season ahead!
