The AESES Education Committee would like to offer additional seminars to help you welcome fall. Registration opens October 22 at 10:00 am.

All seminars have limited capacity and will be conducted in-person unless otherwise noted. Deadlines for registration are listed below the seminar.

Waitlists will be made available if necessary. While we anticipate offering all seminars listed, details and times are subject to change and availability.

Understanding Credit & Debt Solutions (Virtual) | Thu., Nov. 6 | 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Participants will gain insight into personal finance by exploring the truths and myths surrounding credit. This workshop breaks down credit reports, ratings, and scores, while offering practical strategies to protect or repair credit. In addition, participants will learn about effective debt management techniques, including various solutions for reducing and controlling debt loads.

Fall Prevention | Thu., Nov. 13 | 6:30 – 8:30 pm

notesThe goal of this presentation is to reduce the risk of falls among older Manitobans. The small group discussion will help participants understand some of their risks of falling at home and in the community. They will receive information to help them determine their risk of falling and take action to lower their risk of falling. At the end of the session, each participant will take home their own personal safety plan for fall prevention.

Active Aging in Manitoba, in collaboration with the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, has developed a 1-hour presentation/discussion on healthy habits that can contribute to a healthy brain and a positive outlook. This topic will look at Mental Well-being …a state in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to their community.

These seminars are for AESES signed members* and a guest (limit of one guest per member, per seminar). Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, with your completed registration form and payment (if required).

*Please note that as of 2018, AESES implemented a policy that requires members to be signed as union members to participate in our education seminars. If you are not yet signed (or not sure) but are interested in attending, contact the AESES Business Office, and we can check and provide you with a membership form if needed. There is no fee to be a signed member.

AESES is affiliated with the Confederation of Canadian Unions (CCU).

AESES' Charter Meeting was held in December of 1972.

We offer bursaries for AESES dependents at both universities.

Anyone can attend a Board meeting by calling the AESES Business Office prior to the meeting and confirming their attendance.

AESES requires new volunteers for various committees. Please contact the Business Office if you are an AESES member interested in joining one of our committees.
