COVID-19 Info & Updates

AESES is working very hard to keep the interests of our members at the top of everyone’s mind. The situation is changing hourly and it is a challenge to stay abreast of the changing messages and instructions that are being relayed. Nevertheless, we have every intention of continuing to push the employers to keep our members’ interests and well-being at the forefront. Please know that we will inform our members as new information is obtained.

All AESES members should be following the direction provided by your university, the Province of Manitoba and Health Canada. This includes practicing social distancing and regular hand-washing. Most importantly, be sure to self-isolate if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms and contact Health Links.

Manitoba COVID-19 Screening Tool

Some helpful information from Manitoba’s Shared Health group during these challenging times:

Before you call Health Links, take a few seconds to answer some questions that could help determine your next steps about being tested for COVID-19. Access the COVID-19 screening tool.

Petitions to Sign

There are two online petitions where individuals can protest the draconian cuts that Premier Pallister has called for. If you want to add your voice to those in opposition, you can find the petitions at the following links:

Members are also encouraged to write to their MLA, and Premier Pallister, to register their concerns. A listing of all MLAs can be found on the government’s website at:

Also, this petition calls on the Manitoba government to immediately implement fourteen (14) days of paid job-protected leave for all workers in the province during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the logic that “no worker should have to choose between a paycheque and public safety in the middle of a global pandemic.” Sign your name. Add your voice!

University Notices to their Staff

UM

March 31, 2020 – After careful consideration, the University has decided not to charge staff parking permit holders for the month of April 2020 due to the current events surrounding COVID-19. Therefore, you will not see a withdrawal from your bank account for parking fees this upcoming month. All staff will retain their space in the lot they currently occupy.

If you no longer require use of your staff parking permit and wish to cancel for April, please complete a Staff Parking Cancellation form.

Please continue to check our website for updates – http://umanitoba.ca/parking. We will also send another communication as new information becomes available.

Parking Services thanks you for your consideration at this time.

Thank you,
Parking Services
